New Beginnings

"Hey, ladies, where's that new merch you've been talkin' about?" you ask after noting it's now March 16th, well past "early March". We've got some news for you.

For the past three years, Dena and I have enjoyed working together creating unique jewelry designs. We've loved every aspect of it – from scavenging estate sales and thrift stores, to pairing pieces together, to photographing the final product. And we wouldn't have come this far without the support and adoration from our friends and customers. Thank you!

This is not the end of HeadsTwogether, but the beginning of a new adventure. We've long been passionate about paper goods and graphic design and feel it's time to refocus our energies. Having said that, don't hesitate to contact us about custom jewelry orders. We'll always love working with our hands to create pretty accessories. Plus, we have a crap-load of supplies to use up!

So, what now? Enter the world of wedding invitations. We'll be designing a plethora of unique, vintage inspired wedding invitations and paper goods.

We really will be posting jewelry at clearance prices in our etsy store over the next few weeks. So check back often for killer deals. And if you're extra nice to us, you might get a freebie with your order.

Style Love: Emma Watson

You don't have to be a Harry Potter fan to appreciate the adorable Emma Watson.  She's really grown up over the years and is somewhat of a style icon these days.  After being under contract for a decade to keep those tresses long, Emma chopped it all off. I came across the images of her newly shortened hair and couldn't help but think she resembles the early Twiggy photos of the 60s and 70s. I absolutely adore Twiggy and was quite pleased to see Emma with this similar short style. What do you think? Yay or nay?

Styleboard: Sweetheart Outfit

With Valentine's day just around the corner, I'm sure you've got plans with your sweetheart or besties. Here is an outfit idea that is cute yet comfortable for a night out. The leggings look great with little flats or boots, I personally would opt for the boots because the weather has been frigid here in the midwest.

Leggings: Urban Outfitters Levi's High Rise Stirrup Legging
Shoes: Urban Outfitters BDG Woven Skimmer

Styleboard: Studious Suzy

Ok, so, I know we have to go through the rest of Winter, then Spring, then Summer before we get to Fall, but, I couldn't help myself. I'm starting to fall for old-fashioned looking shoes like these. And the grandpa cardigan looks so comfy and warm. And, just admit it, you've wished you hadn't aced that last eye exam because you've been eying (I'm full of puns today) these readers too.

Dress/Blouse: ModCloth Autumnal Bouquet Dress
Sweater: Anthro Wrinkled Grandpa Cardigan in Moss

DIY: Uniform Project

Ok, so, this isn't technically something you can create by whipping up in an hour on your sewing machine, but definitely something worth sharing. Ever since I saw this video last year, I've wanted to attempt wearing one dress for a year. What a challenge to dress it up so your outfit looks different every day.Not to mention it's for a great cause!

Twincidence: "Identical-ness"

I asked Devin, of For Making's Sake Blog, to share a twincidence on the blog, and lucky for us, she obliged! So, without further adieu, I give you the story!

"My sister Avery and I have always been confused for one another, but we never understood the severity of our 'identical- ness" until we went away to separate colleges. While we lavished in our new found individualism, we didn't think to tell new acquaintances that there was someone else on this earth that shared our exact DNA. Sure, we mentioned that we had a sister, but nothing compared to the shock on our college friends' faces when they saw us together for the first time.

The best example is when my sister transferred from a school several hours away, to the University of MN, very close to the college I was attending. I had just started dating my now husband, Mark, and of course introduced him to my sister right away. Likewise, I was introduced to his sister Meg, shortly thereafter. A few weeks after meeting each other's siblings, Avery was walking the bridge that spans the two sides of the rather large U of M campus. Out of nowhere a dark haired woman said "You must be Devin's sister!" A confused Avery simply said " yeah." She [the dark haired woman] then explained that she was Mark's sister who also happened to be attending the U as a grad student. Out of 40,000 students attending the school, she could identify Avery! That event was what really clued us in to just how striking our resemblance is. Even though we still don't quite see it.

And I know the question on everyone's mind is "did you ever switch places to play a joke?" the answer is, of course! We have been twins for 26 years! We switched classrooms in 1st grade on April fools day, thinking we were such clever 7 year olds. Of course the teachers caught on, and as a joke, called us both down to the principles office. The pit in my goodie-two-shoes stomach as I walked to the principles office, thinking I was in deep deep trouble, was enough to make that prank the first and last of our real twin jokes. "

Thank you, Devin, for sharing with us!
