Dinner/Craft/Bake Sale Fundraiser

I'm super excited about the upcoming Fundraiser event that Dena and I are helping with. On Sunday, May 17th, there will be a Spaghetti Dinner and Bake/Craft Sale to help send our dear friend, Brittany, to Ukraine.

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
Brittany is an affiliate missionary appointed with SEND International to serve in the Red Window, an under-churched region in Ukraine. In January 2007 she spent time in Odessa, Ukraine with SEND International, where she saw God work through her in many ways and sensed God leading her back to that part of the World. In August, she will depart for her 4 year commitment.

WHAT WILL SHE BE DOING?
After one year of language study in Odessa, Red Window missionaries will form teams with Ukrainians to work together in encouraging the churches that already exist, evangelize, and plant new churches. Also during the assignment, Brittany will be working on a Master's Degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

HOW CAN I HELP?
If this is something you want to help support, you can do so in a few different ways.

Gotta Get Sewing

I just fixed my sewing machine last night and all I can think about is all the sewing projects I want to do. Last night I sewed a shower curtain for my bathroom and intend to sew a matching curtain for the window. I'm sure there are a lot of awesome online tools/sources for sewing, but one I'm particularly excited about is Burda Style. You can create a free account and share/upload your projects as well as download free shared patterns. Check it out!

Sneak Peek

Dena and I have been busying ourselves with jewelry making and a new tee design to help support our dear friend, Brittany. She will be leaving this summer to be a missionary to Ukraine! The proceeds of this shirt will go towards her fundraising/support. We are taking orders to be printed very soon and will make extras to sell at the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner Craft & Bake Sale. It will be happening on Sunday, May 17th. Will post more about it later.

The design is tentatively going to be printed in bright pink/magenta ink on a light colored long tee. You can check out Brittany's facebook group page for more details.

Sewing Project

My friend, Kate, asked me to help her sew a purse. Not sure why she asked me, since I too, have little sewing experience. However, we managed! Below are photos of the purse I constructed.

Here is the pattern we followed - we left out the zipper as well as using
interfacing because we didn't feel that it needed it.

We felt the inside lining really added an extra "professional" touch.
Kate also modified her straps to be a longer length for a comfortable fit.

Now, don't look too closely or you might spot an imperfection....

If you dig this purse, check out Jenna Lou's website for patterns. If you live in the Minneapolis area, her patterns can be purchased at Crafty Planet, along with all your sewing and crafty needs.
